So I don't really read up on sockets too much but I do know that the previous socket for intel was 1155 and the new socket is 1150? Shouldn't it be like 1160 or something above 1155

The number is to do with the amount of 'pins' the processor has.

Nope.

Intel = Land Gate Array + # Of Pins

LGA1155/LGA1150

 

AMD (used to use) = Scoket + # of pins

 

Socket 754/Scoket 940

 

AMD (now) = Letter(S) + #

 

AM3/AM3+/FM2
