Hey guys, I have a big problem with BF3, and I know it has to be a common problem, as I am not the only one who has it.

So, after about 10-30 minutes of playing multiplayer on BF3, my pc's audio loops the last millisecond of audio and freezes (eventually blue screening). The blue screen error message is "A clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor within the allocated time interval.

Technical information:
"*** STOP: 0x00000101 (0X0000000000000019, 0x0000000000000000, 0xFFFFF8899316A180, 0"

I think this is an audio problem (the audio loops), but I have not been able to find any fixes for this problem. What do you guys think?

------System Specs------

Mobo: Asus Rampage II Gene

CPU: i7 920 @3.675 GHz

RAM: 9GB DDR3

GPU: EVGA GTX 660 SC

PSU is fine

It's not to do with the audio; the audio looping is a side effect of the CPU halting all operations. The thing which stands out to me is your overclocked 920 - try running that on default settings and see if that fixes it. If not, it could still be your CPU since an OC can kill a chip after a while.

Another thing which I noticed, but is unlikely to be relevant to this is 9GB of RAM? What's that, 4 x 2GB DIMMs and 1 x 1GB? O_o

IIRC, there's also a problem with Punkbuster in BF3 multiplayer which can cause bluescreening, so try playing single-player for half an hour or so to see if the same thing happens.

XD I get that asked all of the time, yes I know it is very odd to have 9 GB of ram, it is as you described, 4 x 2GB DIMMs and 1 x 1GB.

As for the overclock, I will try it, but this ONLY happens in BF3, not Crysis 3, not Skyrim, only BF3. Which leads me to believe that it's not a hardware issue.

Thanks for the reply!

Its a BF3 thing with firmware. You have to update your Audio firmware. I had this problem also. I made a post on another forum that fixed mine. will try and find it for you. I looked and looked only to find they deleted it as it wasn't current issue. So basically if i can remember here goes.

Update your firmware. Especially if your running onboard audio. Realtek firmware is the main problem. go to motherboards manufacturing site and download the firmware updates. Also check to make sure your graphic card firmware is up to date as well as the drivers. Run punkbuster out of your BF3 folder, NOT the one in the punkbuster folder.

Hope that helps as i cant remember every step i took as it was a while ago now.

I remember on my old 9500 GT i had the samme issue, its the drivers + onboard audio that needs to get updated.

AMD Radeon 7870 Gigabyte OC / Intel i5 3570k / ASrock Z77 Pro4 /Samsung 840 EVO 250GB / WD Blue 500GB 7200rpm / Kingston HyperX T1 2x4GB 1600mhz / SeaSonic 520w M12 / Thermaltake v4 Black

Nvidia drivers are so bad with BF3.... try out 314 or 306

So I disabled the overclock, played for a bit (until it blue screened again) got the same message, and rebooted.

Mightybaal: Thank you for helping me out with this, and I look forward to see what solution you present.

Did you try playing single player to see if it was a Punkbuster issue?

No crash on SP.

It's gotta be PB then, ike SMURG just suggested.

Yeah, don't ask me how to fix it though. I just remember hearing something a while back about Punkbuster causing bluescreens in multiplayer BF3... At least you've isolated the problem now though.

Thank you for helping me do that, now I read somewhere that running PB out of it's folder before the game can fix it, I will try that later.
