That is false economy though. It could end up failing and taking the rest of the system with it, and then you are left with no pc. Something like a Corsair CX or EVGA 500B would be a decent cheap option.

Ofcourse it could fail. Ofcourse it would be a good option, but it's just a tight budget and as I said, he can get better components in the future :)

The psu is one thing you should never skimp on though. Even if it is a low end 'Branded' one it will be better than a gutless wonder. A lot of the no name psu's don't have all the protections in place, so it could end up costing a new system.
