This will (eventually) be my first time building a computer and I obviously wanted to make sure that I'm not being stupid with my money and since there so many more experienced people on this forum, where better to get advice than here? I also plan on doing SLI but thats a good while away from now,

I'm trying to keep the cost down as much as possible and cutting RAM was just a budget thing.

Get more ram, swap the gpu for a 780 if they're on sale or an R9 290 if they're priced lower.

I plan on getting more ram. The R9 290 is about the same price here so Im getting the 970 for all the extra features and the 780 is more expensive

Edit: whoops, the 78o is about the same price

Yeah more ram, and maybe a K series processor if you want to overclock on that Z97 board.

I won't be overclocking the processor maybe the GPU but not the CPU

Banana. A yellow fruit. Also a kind of pudding...a delicious pudding.

Ok. But I would strongly recommend getting another stick of ram. If wanted to cut costs, I would get a cheaper motherboard, or case.

I don't want to cut down any more with the case but what do you think about this motherboard http://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-motherboard-z97g55sli

it looks good, but if you don't want to overclock Z97 isn't really needed. Not that it is a bad thing.
