AMD R9 280

Go to solution Solved by Sauron,

Are these available at retail with the AMD reference coolers on them? I have searched the internet and cannot find any outlets that carry cards with the reference coolers. I know the performance is less with more heat but I like the look of it and will sacrifice performance to get it.

The 280 is discontinued in favour of the 285. You should have more luck finding one of those OR a 280x. The reference cooler is not terribad on these two cards, it was only bad and noisy in the 290(x) cards.

in case anyone is interested in what I decided to buy. There is no method to my madness and compromises were made. I decided to go with two of these:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121802

Don't ask me why, I just felt that this would allow me to play all of the games that I currently play plus future releases. I don't play any FPS. I mostly play LOL and some MMO's. Not a whole lot of graphically intense games. Dragon Age: Inquisition is my next purchase.

Well, nice purchase. I would have bought a GTX 970, but you're getting good performance.

yea nvidia has a slight upperhand as well as intel but I am a huge fan of Team Red. I am also looking forward to how Samsung is going to help them accelerate their progress. I have nothing against nvidia or intel, I just like AMD. Again, there is really no method to my madness. lol.

When I am done, my rig will consist of Corsair, ASUS, and AMD products only.
