Will it bottleneck?

Go to solution Solved by Aniallation,

Will my AMD FX-6300 OC ~4.1 GHZ bottleneck an ASUS Strix GTX 970?

Depends what game. Games that are able to use 4-6 cores will be perfectly fine, however games that use only one or two cores will struggle a bit, but nothing major since you're overclocked. Get the 970, but get the Gigabyte Gaming G1. Strix is overrated and overhyped.

Online. At the local PC shop here where everyone gets their parts from, both the i3 and the 8FX are ~170

Tell them to stop overcharging for the i3 =P

I wish I had a shop around here that had good prices :c

You're on the LTT forum. At least know what goes on around here. http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/6782-i5-3570k-vs-fx-8350-showdown-part-1-1080p-no-aa/

I can't view the file. Can you show me where it has a video of an FX-6300 or FX-8320 outperforming an i3 in Battlefield 4 multiplayer?

edit:

managed to find an online app to view the file

A graph of the 8350 having a couple extra fps than the 3570K in BF3 doesn't tell me much.

a. Was it multiplayer or single-player? What were the conditions?

b. How does this affect your claim about Battlefield 4?

Even the FX-8350 + GTX 780 fails to keep the framerate above 60 and is frequently dipping to the 40s and 50s in the video I linked, and it's being recorded with Shadowplay. Meanwhile the i3-4130 and GTX 760 keeps the fps above 60 99.9% of the time... i wish i could find actual CPU comparisons in the game using identical settings, identical GPU, and playing on the same map... but i made do with what i had :/

From the videos I fail to see anyway that an FX-6300 would be better than the i3 for BF4, and how you suggest that it would support a GTX 970 without issue in games that will use 6 threads.
