ok so i have recently been meaning to improve my portfolio for 3D, art, level design and game design.

i though about doing this a while back to help challenge people on the forums in the same boat as me, aswell as allowing people wanting to get in to the industry to grow there skills through these.

 

it will be a very simple challenges and suggestions are always nice.

for people wanting to get in to 3d please follow the basic guide i posted here:

each challenge will have a week deadline and EVERY1 can post there submission on this thread and i will update the main post with the most liked result for each section.

 

i will date the start and end date for all the challenges with a simple title..

 

Rules:

  1. all work must be your own.
  2. ONLY post final results (3d render, drawing ext).
  3. links to progression to the final render are good but not essential.
  4. no nudity or up to PG-13 standards.
  5. be creative as possible, it is encouraged.

 

Challenge for this week:  Start: June 3rd 2013. Finishes: June 10th 2013

Name of the challenge this week is "Sniper Rifle".

  • Design and build your own Sniper rifle to fit its purpose.
  • be as imaginative as you want you may cover any style (Steam punk, fantasy, sci-fi ext)
  • BONUS: Include a link to your design process along with the final version.

There are no prizes for this, it is just to help people improve and build there artistic talent and portfolio as well as learn new skills.

 

Remember have fun with it.

I have been messing around with blender for about a week and am far from good enough to enter but thanks a lot for the guides!

Sounds pretty cool, this might make take my painters supplys down from the attic.

iv been working on getting a portfolio together for a while now but i like some competition to it. so i thought i would post this up and make it something to help not just me but everyone in the same situation :) im hoping we can get a creative section on the forums at some point so this will be allot easier

Amen to that. I have so many incomplete 3d models it's not even funny. Once, my friend needed some help in modeling the Destiny from Stargate Universe and I said I would help. To this day I still feel bad for not completing my part.

You can use any software and any method you want... you can do an oil painting, model it out of clay, 3d model it, 3d print it, sketch it with a pen/ pencil, finger paints, draw it on an etch-a-sketch there is no limit to how you can do it.
