I have a few questins about Rams,

i understand how to overclock rams but I have afew questions about higher ghz ram.

lets say I have 2400ghz ram and my board  says it can handle the ram but under OC* does that mean after seting my XMP to 2400 I can just install the ram or do i have to clock it down?

or do I set the XMP to 2400 and let it run a 2400ghz?

first off its 2.4ghz, 2400mhz. giga>mega.

if you're installing dd3, it will just work, at speed supported by motherboard and ram. if you have 2400mhz ram, it will run on a mother board which supports that speed or higher...

but my board says 2.4ghz *

*= oc

so does that mean I just set my xmp  I can run the ram on my board with no problem

2.4GHz = 2400MHz

Not 2400GHz :P

But odds are you can set XMP. I've run 2133mhz on LGA1155 boards that only 'supported' 1333MHz without the "O.C".

tho remember , unless your running an APU its pointless getting faster RAM / overclocking it

Just to clarify, you have to install your RAM first, then the XMP settings should show up within the BIOS for you to select.
