need new gpu

I have an Asus pb278q wich is 1440p so I was wondering if a gtx970 is enough to play at high or max setting or do I need to get a gtx 980.( I am really new at gaming this is my first gaming pc).

I would get a 980 to play comfortably at max 1440p.

A 970 will play fine at medium-high settings but i would go for a two way 970 or a 980

Nvidia is to Dr Dre Beets as AMD is to KFC.
One makes you broke, the other you can get more of and have a midnight snack from the fridge when hungry again. Once you go Nvidia, you go broked, turn into an Elitist, or get the incorrect amount of VRAM.
