I am planning to build a PC Case myself, since I fail to find an affordable one that suit my needs. My dad and I have the necessary carpentry skill to built it, but there is still allot of things that are unclear to me and I would appreciate the expertise of people who built a case for them self.

What wood-type do you recommend?

What type of color works on wood and gives it a metal appearance(like powder coated)?

General tips and tricks.

Links to other builds, since I can't really good ones myself.

General Idea is bottom to top airflow case, Hugh intake at the bottom and exhaust at the top.

Why would you possibly want it to look metally? A clear lacquer would look a lot better imo. The wood type does really not matter. As long as it is rigid enough.

And do not bother with HDD cages. Just mount them straight to the case as the wood does really not resonate.

I would recommend having pretty much any wood(A wood that have textures you like)
for everything exept the side panels, They should be Plywood of some sort.

Just us clear Acrylic sheets. Just something clear with a wood outline.

Thats the general direction I will head for, was not able to do cutouts with this 3d program.

Wood is green, blue represents components and red are the main intake fans. The case itself works like a raven. The top will let the air pass through.
