Your Answer is No. If you want to overclock you can, but no one needs to overclock.

If you don't overclock you're wasting about £75.

You could go to a regular 4690 instead of the 4690k, an h97 instead of the Z97, and ditch the CPU cooler and have the exact same performance, but the inability to overclock. The only reason to get the parts you have is if you do overclock. Also, that MoBo is a bit on the expensive side anyway. No need to spend extra money on it as it doesn't actually increase performance. Find the cheapest z97 MoBo that has the slots and features that you want, from a manufacturer that you trust to be reliable, and it'll perform the same for less money. A MoBo has no performance numbers, just compatability, featureset, and reliability, and a z97 chipset will handle just about all of the featureset you need like overclocking, unless you need more PCI-E slots for SLI/Crossfire, so just check the specs.

@Lotus what MoBo then

The cheapest h97 chipset board that you trust to be reliable. MoBos don't have performance numbers. They're not processors or memory, but rather just the thing you plug everything into. Keep in mind that with an h97 chipset board, you CANNOT overclock the same way as a z97. The reason I'm suggesting this and save your cash is that you said you don't want to overclock.

edit: the only thing you may care about on a MoBo besides the chipset and slots is the onboard audio. Check the specs and make sure it's to your liking if you care about that. These days, even the most basic MoBos have at least 5.1 onboard audio with clear audio channels. Just make sure you use the rear i/o panel for audio to avoid interference from inside the case.

You don't need to. But it's foolish of you to buy a K-series SKU if you plan not to.

I cannot be held responsible for any bad advice given.

I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

My rig: The StealthRay. Plans for a newer, better version of its mufflers are already being made.

What I would suggest:

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-motherboard-h97pcmate

However, if you want to stick with the red theme:

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/asrock-motherboard-fatal1tyh97killer

I trust MSI and ASRock MoBos. Heck, the ASRock mobo even supports Crossfire if you really want to.

Don't forget to get the regular, NON-K series CPU if you're going this route.

And remember, if you do go this route, you will not be able to overclock down the road like a z97 chipset and k-series cpu

edit:

yeah, that price is actually better. That MoBo works. Go with yours.
