Hi, I'm about to build my first rig and I was wondering if all of the components that I have selected are compatible with each other and that it is the best that i can do with my limited supply of money. The components which that i have selected are as follows: Corsair 200r Carbide case; AMD FX4300 CPU; Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P; XFX Radeon R7 260x; Corsair Vengeance 2*4GB DDR3 1600MHz; 1TB WD Green WD10EZRX and a Corsair CP-9020047-UK Builder CX500W PSU 80+ Bronze. Any and all response are greatly appreciated and thanks in advance. :)

Hey there Alex324 and Welcome to the forum :)

These parts are compatible with each other and would work just fine.

The PSU would be sufficient enough for these parts as they'd consume about 305W if you don't overclock any of them and that PSU provides 456W at 12V.

If you are aiming for gaming with that build, I would suggest changing that WD Green drive with WD Blue or WD Black (and probably add in a SSD). WD Green are great, cool and quiet drives designed for secondary storage but you may experience some slowdowns with it as a main drive. WD Blue is a fast reliable drive designed for everyday usage while WD Black is designed specifically for gaming. Either drives would work for you as games rely on storage only for their load times (initial and in-game) (that's why a SSD would give you a great boost in loading times).

Your BIOS would probably need an update to run that CPU because of the chipset
You could always use pspartpicker to check your parts, wattage and compitability. Here's an example of your build done there:

CPU: AMD FX-4300 3.8GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($88.54 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P ATX AM3+ Motherboard  ($69.98 @ NCIX US)
Video Card: XFX Radeon R7 260X 2GB Core Edition Video Card  ($109.94 @ NCIX US)
Case: Corsair 200R ATX Mid Tower Case  ($38.98 @ NCIX US)
Total: $487.42

That's very helpful thanks. What size SSD would you recommend to use as a primary boot drive?

Hey again :)

Since these drives are pretty small and fill up quickly, I would say 250GB is a good size for a boot SSD and to store your important games and programs.

instead of ssd i would suggest to put money on gpu get 270x or 280

and 4300 is kinda old cpu  instead get athlon x4 860k its recently launched and u could get it with little cheaper mobo

AMD Athlon X4 860K

Asus A88XM-E

and wd blue is better choice than wd green and not that costlier

Thanks for the responses. I'm trying to do this system as cheaply as possible so i don't really want to spend the extra £35+ on a 270x or 280 I've already got an external 1TB HDD, so would that be alright for storage of my main data and then put important stuff onto the SSD?
