I've heard others warn about possible performance issues with having a single 8gig stick compared to 2x4 (no real experience with this for myself)

Otherwise id say nice choice for a CPU, modest but solid storage choice. a 550w PSU is going to need upgrading if you plan on upgrading pretty much any component in the future.

You never mentioned a budget, goals or anything else recommended by this thread

http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/

you could possibly cut back on the CPU a little bit (possibly an i5-4670), and go with a 280x

edit:

If budget is a large issue, someone else could give a suggestion on a more appropriate motherboard for your setup

The memory I have no real idea, I saw it in a thread a long time ago, and just thought it might be worth bringing up in case anyone else could elaborate on it.

Your zalman PSU has a 0% chance of accommodating your upgrade plans, and if you are planning on upgrading the CPU knocking a few $$ off of your current CPU choice wouldn't hurt imo

I'd change my mind to maybe-ok

Considering you chose an unlocked processor, I assume you intend on OC'ing your CPU. This doesn't really affect its power consumption to much as long as you don't get crazy, but its something to keep in mind.

From past experience with a 600w silver and only having a ~50w wiggle room on a similar machine, random shutdowns became quite common. You might actually be fine but random shut downs are something no one should have to experience

edit:

"After a little trial and error, I was able to get our sample of the i7-4790K running all four cores stable at 4.6GHz with 1.375V. The Asus utility reported that the CPU was using 141W under load, a pretty dramatic increase from the 88W used at the stock voltage and frequency."

I like my warranty. But when it runs out perhaps.

If you get a fx or x processor overlocking does not void your warranty. And you don't need to oc to benefit from a better cooler it will be quiter and keep your pc happy.
