try running system file checker and any necessary repairs. I had a similar issue, it was caused by 3 or 4 windows updates (sfc listed the knowledge base number of installed updates that had errors... I googled them - other people had similar issues with a few that i did, but not everyone will - and then uninstalled them and hid them in windows update. My blue screens are now maybe once or twice a month, compared to several on a daily basis. Now and then it still will not wake from sleep, but again... very rarely. When I had my cpu overclocked, even on a stable overclock it would not wake from sleep, had to force shut down and power back on. So much for buying an unlocked cpu!

PS - Most of the errors I got (47 I believe) could not be fixed by sfc online update or whatever its called, but to this day they aren't all resolved, I took care of ~10 manually, but it was enough to make it useable again. I ran sfc on two friends computers also running 8.1, one had no errors, the other had 3. No idea what I did to mess it up that bad. I did install windows 8 from an online copy that I made a bootable usb out of, and entered my product id from my retail copy (I didn't have an optical drive at the time), and then a few months later 8.1 came out... maybe my issue was a combination of a bad digital copy which in turn caused even more issues when upgrading to 8.1

I always guarantee that no more than 50% of what I say is useful.

Well the BSOD errors that I get are mainly clock watchdog time out and system service expection

What are the BSOD errors that you get?
Normally, BSOD means hardware fault, or serious driver issue, where it situation is so bad that Windows failed to restart the drivers.

CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT is bad.. really really bad.

Assuming you are not overclocked or underclocked, it means the CPU is busted, or the motherboard has a busted CPU socket.

The error means that the CPU failed to handle interrupts.

You may be able to correct the issue, however.

-> Make sure that the CPU socket is perfect clean, and all pins are in excellent condition. Maybe a dust particle arrived on it as you were initially installing the CPU, and is cause the problem.

-> Make sure the system BIOS/UEFI is fully updated, it may fix the problem.

-> Check BIOS/UEFi for CPU power saving Or overclock OR performance features. Try the different options that are available. If you have such option, some might overclock the CPU under max load, where your CPU needs more voltage, and isn't getting enough. Or if power saving, it could cut too much of the CPU voltage.

-> If the above points doesn't help, then slightly increase the CPU voltage.
