Need help with compatibility

Go to solution Solved by ThomChild,

Thanks for the answer mate!

I actually did a lot of researches for the best case. I was settled on the 750D when I found this one. I thought it was pretty great for my needs. Hope I didn't go wrong...  Got it for 89 $CAN, isn't that cheap for this kind a low noise case? the 750D was like 150. Anyway, just trying to convince myself because it's already bought...

I am seriously concerned about the GPU / heatsink clearance. So I decided to go with a smaller cpu cooler. The cooler master hyper 212 Evo. Is that a good idea? It's cheaper, have good reviews, gets decent performance for OC....

Hello everyone,

I'm struggling to chose the cpu cooler for my new build, which include the Asus x99-deluxe motherboard in a Fractal design define R4 case with a Asus GTX 980.

I would love to go with the NH-D15, but I'm not even sure it can fits in the case, plus i fear it may come too close to the GPU. So I thought going for a corsair h100i cooler which can fit in the top of the case, but I fear it won't fit in this scenario because of the x99-deluxe top heatsink.

Any suggestions? Any answers? Is one of my two options any good?

Thanks in advance!

Éric

Newegg being Newegg, I can't find more information on what heatsink sizes are supported and I don't feel like rummaging thru other sites right this second.

I will tell you for sure that the H100i will not fit, or it's way too close to try. I would've suggested you have the top HDD cage removed and throw the H100i in the front but the R4 only supports 120/140/280mm in the front and not 240mm. That and I don't know if the hoses would be too short or something like that (again, more info that I don't care to look up).

May I ask why you'd spend $900+ on a platform and then throw it in a mediocre case, especially one that's heavily overpriced in comparison to similar products? I'll double check it right now but I think the Enthoo Pro is a very similar case that should house everything with ease, and it's the same price.

Edit: It looks fine.

H100i and NH-D15 both fit with the Asus X99 Deluxe from the looks of it, but check for yourself to see for sure..

Forgot to answer your question about the D15/GPU clearance.

It should be fine, I believe you can orient the fans so that they push/pull front to back inside. I would be far more concerned about the RAM clearance with a lot of DDR4 when picking coolers myself though.

Edit: It says it does support the X99 Deluxe, way down at the bottom under Asus. There are no "If's" listed.
