TV/Monitor Combo

I am thinking of replacing my so-so ASUS VS228H-P 21.5" monitor: (http://www.amazon.com/VS228H-P-22-Inch-Full-HD-LED-Lit-Monitor/dp/B005BZNDOO/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1411597563&sr=1-1&keywords=asus+vs228h-p)

for this Samsung 22" TV: (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BCGRX9M/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER) because I want to also be able to use old game consoles on it without needing a second dedicated screen or janky composite to vga/hdmi/audio adapters.

Has anyone had experince with using this Samsung TV as a monitor and sitting a few feet away? Can you really tell it's a tv?
