Going in the new corsair 780t. Other case is just a placeholder. Also curious about ram compatability. Thanks for any comments/suggestions :)

Btw plan on running linux/steamOS if that creats any issues with the build

New PC: i7-4790k, Corsair H100iGTX, ASrock Fatal1ty Z97 Killer, 24GB Ram, 850 EVO 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD, GTX 1080 Fractal Design R4, EVGA Supernova G2 650W

Pretty unbalanced with the G3258 in there, especially if you say you want to go 3 way sli.

G3258 is the cheapest placeholder I could find as I plan to upgrade to broadwell asap. Also not planning to start off with SLI, maybe later down the road but definitely want it to be an option.

In that case you should be fine with just a single GTX 970 and the G3258. Just remember to overclock the pants off it, to get the full potential out of it  :D

the mobo does have support for 3 way sli in the future though right? Can't find any clear evidence for that feature in the product page.

It only supports 2 way SLI from what I can see. This Gigabyte board supports 4 way SLI.

Any Idea how it performs when overclocking?
