Worth upgrading or wait?

Uxi Mr
Go to solution Solved by Uxi Mr,

So I'm getting a "no don't get that monitor since you don't play competitive " vibe here so any suggestions on what monitor I should get? Around the same price as much as possible cause I don't think my current monitor fits with the build.

Greetings!

So my last dilemma for my build is the monitor. I'm currently using

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824260049

Problem is, is it worth upgrading now to a 144hz monitor? Specifically Asus VG248QE, or go for an IPS one? Or maybe wait for an IPS 144hz monitor and use the funds instead to get GTX 970 (since I read it beats 780 TI)? Although I did just upgrade to 770 from 460 not too long ago so I'm not sure of this...

I'm not a competitive gamer, I like gaming at high settings if not max, and I do video editing of my recorded games.

Thank you in advance !!!

The 970 certainly does not beat a 780Ti

If you play FPS games 144hz is soo much better.

I wouldn't invest in a 144hz unless you play games like BF4, BF3, CS, CSGO, etc on a regular basis, with most of the games I play the high hertz makes no visual difference. However in BF3 and 4 in particular the difference is quite large.

However you have to have the horsepower to push those high hertz and imo a 770 wouldn't cut it (at least in BF 3/4)

A 780 Ti definitely does not get beat by a 970...benchmarks just have a 780 Ti running at 876Mhz as opposed to an 1300+Mhz clock on the 970.

I am using VG428QE and from my perspective, its great and is the best TN monitor I use, a 780ti is more than enough for most games.
