CPU Overheating Issues

Go to solution Solved by Faaa97,

Is cooler installed properly? Also try changing thermal compound.

I have a friend who just built a new editing pc and his cpu overheats to the point of the pc shutting down whenever he tries to render something, it usually gets to 95+ then shuts down it has a stock cooler but shouldn't that at least keep it from overheating?

this is his build:

Motherboard: ASRock H97M PRO4 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($82.98 @ Newegg)
Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  ($149.99 @ Micro Center)

Case: Silverstone PS07B MicroATX Mini Tower Case  ($79.98 @ Newegg)

is there any software we can at least get to stop the cpu from stressing when it hits like 80 degrees? just need something to hold him over until he can buy a hyper 212 evo.
btw we ran some benchmarks like heaven and firestrike and the cpu didnt go above 75 however it just dies when rendering we also do have cuda rendering enabled so it should be using the 780 however it dosent go over like 40 when rendering for some reason.

I would ask the same with Faaa97 +did he clean the CPU surface before instal the cooler? Is there enough airflow through the case?

there is enough airflow but now that i think about it i probablly should re apply thermal paste
