Im getting a new cpu and of course im going to x99 but I dont know the difference between the 5820k and the 5930k and I am rather short on money and i defiantly need 6 cores

Higher base clockspeed and turbo clockspeed and also supports more PCI-E lanes. Remember the 5820k doesnt have all dem pci lanes.

 

BUT , you'll never need them unless 3-4way sli-ing and 5820k IS A BEAST .

so for after effects and c4d would it accually make a difference? I really only need 4 pcie lanes and I am on a budget

The 5820K has 28 PCI-E 3.0 lanes. The 5930K and 5960K (8 core) both have 40 lanes. Unless you plan on using more you should go for it ! Especially since it's unlocked .

so the 5820k isnt unlocked? i was planning to do some overclocking, also I think that it is the 5960x that is the only 8 core

GOOD ! This is finally a good lga 2011 x820k from intel ( 3820 and 4820 were meh ) , and comes well above the 4790k in performance
