I'm going to be building a PC for my class that covers 802.11a/b material (instead of taking the final exam) and have decided I'm going to build a budget gaming PC over a home server, and I'm about 90% sure on the parts that I want to include in the build.

However, I'm also looking for some advice on the build. I'm probably going to pick up most of these parts soon, as most of the build is either on sale or has a rebate right now.

Plus, the parts will need to be tested to make sure they work before I use it for an exam ;)

CPU: I'm debating between the 750k and the 860k. I know I want to go with something that will work in an fm2/fm2+ motherboard, as the next generatino of APUs is more than likely going to be on the fm2+ socket, whereas the am3 socket has been discontinued, so an fx series processor would have absolutely no future proofing.

Motherboard: The motherboard is something I'm not 100% set on. FM2/FM2+ socket. USB 3.0. SATA ports. You know, typical motherboard things. I don't need anything too fancy.

Memory: G. Skill Ripjaws 2x4GB ddr3-1600 RAM with a CAS of 9. Might shell out a little bit more to get cas 8 RAM.

Storage: Either a seagate or WD 7200 1TB drive, whichever is cheaper when I order the HDD. Not looking to use a SSD. I know they are faster, but I feel my budget can be better spent in other places.

Video Card:MSI Radeon R9 270 TWIN FROZR. I'm pretty set on the Radeon r9 270x. This card can easily be overclocked to run like an r9 270x, so no need to spend $20 extra on essentially the almost same exact card.

Case: Rosewill R5. I really like the look of this case. Reviews for the case are pretty good.

Power Supply: This I am also not entirely sure on, If I can get away with the 500W, I'd rather use that, but I believe I will enjoy a semi-modular power supply.

I also plan on eventually getting a cooler master 212 EVO, and overclocking the CPU a little bit.

I'm not worried about monitors, peripherals, or an OS, as I already have a display and peripherals I'm going to use, and the OS will come from dreamspark.

Will a 450watt PSU will provide enough power to the pc, especially if I overclock the CPU?
