i was just wondering if someone could clarify it to me as the major media sites (4chan/reddit/kotaku/etc) appear to have a blackout in effect.

Kind of stupid if you ask me. I never listened to any of the review scores that major outlets put out. There really isn't a point so whatever they did had no effect on whether I bought a game or not. I didn't know people actually listened to their reviews O.o
