Based on this articles, the specs seem like a downgrade in every way. Fewer cuda cores, lower bandwidth ... The only plus (and this is a big one) is the super low tdp.

If the only plus is just lower TDP with no accompanying gain in performance than that's a big minus in my books. I rather the GPU manufacturers release parts that push the limits of the architecture not play it safe.

The new architecture is much more efficient and the increase in L2 cache should help. The lower tdp would give you more headroom for overclocking and the clock speed is higher than most models of the 780 ti, not to mention the extra gig in vram. The 970 starts at $330. That information has been confirmed. The 980, however, starts at about $550, but that information is unconfirmed.

price/performance have never been an nvidia feature historically speaking. Perhaps they might have learned something from Radeon and AMD in that regard but I doubt it. nvidia will release another overpriced part because they know that people will pay for it. just my 2 centz.

I'm not sure about 100% confirmed, but it has been stated by more than one source.

The 970 looks like such an amazing deal, not to mention it uses about 70 watts less than my 7950.  Can't wait to get one and overclock the shit out of it!

I am liking these cards but wait for AMD to release their cards first that's what I am doing. At a minimum you will have better options if you do end up going with nvidia.

I want to, but I also want to sell off my 7950 while there is still good enough value to put towards a new card.  Decisions, decisions...

I think the 970 is the pick of the bunch price/performance wise...

Nvidia is pricing their new cards so aggressively, I can only see AMD matching their price/performance.
