CPU bottleneck

Will Intel G540 2.5 GHz or G550 2.6 GHz bottleneck my GTX 550 Ti? Thanks.

I'd say it'll be fine,it's a low-mid range graphics card and it shouldn't have any issues with a low mid range processor.

Yea I agree with mvitkun, it wont bottleneck your components because they are both low to mid range parts making them to balance out

I think it depends on the games you are playing. If the game requires a quad core CPU (like Battlefield 3 multiplayer) that dual core would be a bit of a bottleneck.

Yes, It's a good setup, not much bottleneck here unless you play a game that uses more cores like 191x7 said.

Well, I have a Pentium E5400 2.7GHz with a GTX 650 Ti, and I definately think my CPU is massively bottlenecking the card (I'm not nearly getting the same benchmarks that other sites got with the card).

Considering, from what I've heard, the 650 Ti isn't a big leap from the 550 Ti, I would assume your CPU would bottleneck it too.

Not at all. You will be limited by the 550 ti before the CPU. From what I have learned most of the time the CPU will only become a bottleneck with SLI or crossfirex

the g540/g550 is pretty weak,it'd probably bottleneck somewhere around between a 7770-7850 or gtx 650 ti-gtx 660.

understandable. But if the plan is to stay with the 550ti for a while i wouldnt worry about the processor

Like some people are saying, it really depends on the game. The 550Ti is just powerful enough to offload stuff like physx on the GPU. Battlefield 3 runs poorly on my AMD 1090T but beautifully on my 2600K (both tested with the same 550Ti). If you are running games like Metro 2033, LoL, World of Warcraft, Just Cause 2 and Valve games, I'd say it will work for now.
