Does crossfire/sli improve eyefinity/surround performance?

Got hold of a couple of monitors until May and I have been trying out some games in 3 x 1 eyefinity on my 7850, even though i have to lower quality and other settings, the level of immersion is AMAZING!

I was just wondering if crossfire can help with eyefinity, i plan to buy a 7950 or 7990 or equivalents (this is a few months down the line btw) and I was wondering if crossfire would help with eyefinity.

You can't crossfire a 7850 with a 7950 or a 7990. It has to be another 7850. To answer your question, Yes if you buy another 7850 then you will get better FPS on your games in eyefinity

Sorry, I was intending on crossfiring my 7850 with a 7950, i was going to replace it outright

Oh in that case the 7950 will do eyefinity better then the 7850 becuase of the 3gb of memory it has on it. The more memory on your GPU the better you can run eyefinity at better frame rates. If you go with a more flagship top of the line 7950, for example if you find one that has 900 on the core clock and 1375 on the memory cock or higher all of them are pretty equal to the stock 7970's and you can overclock from there witch will get you closer to the higher end 7970's

The 7950 is the more bang for you buck deal If money is no object then I would go with a 7970 or a 7990 if you can get your hands on one

I would add that Crossfiring/sli'ing will help with running the games (Achieving high fps or running them at better graphics) but crossfiring/sli'ing two 3gb cards still gives a total of 3GB of ram. So it won't help in that respect.

I wouldn't go for crossfire/SLI since there may be worse FPS with a crossfire/sli rig then with jsut a single card.. I would sell m old one and get one very good one.. thats how i stay away from SLI/Crossfire :D

7990s are easy to get in the UK surprisingly, but i am not sure i want to commit so much money to a graphics card when i will also be buying watercooling stuff aswell

WOW I would like to see one, here in the U.S. its hard to get your hands on one :( I agree with you on dropping that much money on a card when you will be buying blocks as well

you could also crossfire with a 7870 can't you?

I thought AMD allowed crossfire for the same hundred series like 7800 to 7800 or 7900 to 7900.

Yes, I was about to say that. Just has to be the same series not the exact card.

If you're waiting a couple of months wait for 8000 GPU's and just get a single high end one.
