Its a very capable GPU.

What is your budget?  Where are you located?  Do you live near a Microcenter if you live in the U.S.?

Ok!  Lets get you gaming then.  Do you need an operating system? monitor? keyboard? mouse?

Or is this $850 just for the computer. Are you interested in overclocking?

Without having all of the necessary information, this is just a rough draft, but its an idea of the kind of performance you can get out of $850 if you only need the computer and no peripherals or operating system.

I'm pretty familiar with the pricing of components, spent a lot of time in the New Builds and Planning section of the forum.  This is really an incredible computer for only $850.  I don't know if you need an operating system though, monitor, keyboard, mouse.  So this is $850 just for computer.  If you needed those extras, you wouldn't be able to fit a 970 in there.

I was asking how good is the i3 at gaming or should i spend more money and just buy a i5?

Just get the i5 for the peace of mind. The i3 will do fine is just about any game at this point but future games will be more demanding on the i3

Yea, you're going to want an SSD.  Unless you need an operating system, we could probably parlay that SSD into an OS so you can keep the 970.

SSD improves overall system response time, it makes your computer much more snappy and responsive.  Boot and shut down times are very fast.  Nothing will give you a "New Computer, money well spent feeling" quite like an SSD because it makes your day-to-day tasks that much faster.

Its a bit over budget, but this will give you the best performance for your money.  If you absolutely have to cut costs, you could go for a less expensive case, but the 300R for only $47 is tremendous value.

Yes, the R9 280 is very good for 1080p gaming, much better than the 750Ti.  It is closer to the performance of a 770.

With the extra money, you could buy an SSD, or a unlocked "k" processor.  CPU Cooler is another option.

Yes, this is a very good gaming PC.  Its more of a mid-upper mid level gaming PC.  Much better than a starter or entry level gaming PC.  This will last you for many years.

Happy to help, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

I strongly recommend that you buy that motherboard + RAM combo now before the deal expires, that is too good to pass up on.  Even if you aren't planning to build for another week or so, buying that motherboard + RAM combo is a fantastic deal, and it is essential to you getting the best PC for your money.
