New Amp Dead?

I recently got the Scarlett 2i2 based off of the recommendation by hardware canucks. The amp is used to power my headset: Audio-Technica ATH M50x, and my mic: Audio-Technica at2035. I put on the headphone after a day at work to hear nothing but a very high pitch sound. After realizing that the amp clearly wasn't powering my headphones anymore I tried my mic and found that that wasn't working either. What is the cause of all of this? Is my amp dead?

rma the amp and see if it is the problem, also try an use the headphones without the amp

focusrite 2i2 is an external audio interface. I have the focusrite 18i20 for my studio and it is a charm to work with. It basically cannot fail due to the cercuitery inside. Usually it's a miss communication with the OS. You can always try to disable and enable the device if it happens again.
