Wifi AC Modems

I'm currently looking around for a new modem that supports WiFi AC dual band, due to most of my devices like my Xperia Z1 & Z2, my Asus Maximus VI Impact supporting Wifi AC 5Ghz, and due to my crappy Telstra Wifi G modem is starting to cut out every now and then, I kinda know its stupid to get WiFi AC down under due to the pathetic speeds Australian ISP's have, but I just wanna make sure that I'm getting as much throughput and output, used as possible. and i don't have the space to put a Router in my small home.

I've recently seen an Asus DSL- AC68U out on the market AUD$320 http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=27761&cPath=1439

but i don't know if there are any comparable WiFi AC Modems, my budget is at the between $250 - $400.

If you want you can get the Buffalo Airstation Extreme AC1750 (it's not a modem router as far as I'm aware) and then run a cable to your existing modem router, turning off the WiFi on the Telstra. May be a little cheaper but not as neat as buying a new modem router. 

Thinking about it probably not worth the hassle - the Telstra may not have gigabit Ethernet ports & you said limited space.

All of my devices uses WiFi, although some of them such as the printer, Smart TV, Telstra T-Box, and Xperia Z, and 3 laptops dont have Wifi AC, its just mainly my desktop which has WiFi, and the Xperia Z1, Z2 uses WiFi AC, im also planning on upgrading the Laptops WiFi card to Support WiFi AC, i would just want 1 solution rather than having many cables everywhere in the home. Afterall my mum is starting to complain that it keeps on cutting out all the time, and an option for a NAS would also be good in the future.

What @tract9on is talking about is what I would do and the router he is talking about is DD-WRT and is only $140 for a good fairly long range router. Its not the best but its good. However some modems have bridging disabled (permanently) which I believe you have to enable to add a router to a modem.
