What is the best type of storage device I can get that is portable and that is fast? I'm looking for around 200+ GB on it because I travel around a lot to friends house and do things.

Does your laptop have thunderbolt/USB 3.0?

if so, grab a USB 3.0 HDD enclosure, and throw an SSD in it.

How big is the performance difference when using an SSD properly and using one in an enclosure using USB 3.0?

Last time i tried, was with a Samsun 840. It transferred pretty fast. Preformed to my expectations.

I have that same SSD, but I mean does USB3.0 bottleneck the SSD?

I believe USB 3.0 tops out at 600 something MB/s. Wont top off any SSD's of today.
