Hi there,

I have been facing the issue where

- Windows programs not responding

- Programs will show up in taskbar for a split-second than close

I have tried

- chkdsk

- reinstalling windows 7 SP1

- checking for malware

- a bunch of software to fix registry

None of those worked , so I ran windows into safe mode(with networking) and the issue was absent.

I went into msconfig and disabled all startup tasks and services but the issue is still there.

I would greatly appreciate any help or insight into this issues . Thanks in advance.

Well the difference between safe mode and booting normally with all the services disabled would be drivers.  So look this part sucks but you might want to start re-installing drivers.  I'm interested by the fact that you had an issue re installing windows since if everything was good in safe mode its a software issue and not the RAM acting up. By the way I never recommend registry fixes as they tend to screw up more than they fix.  I just want to double check when you were in msconfig you selected diagnostic startup? Or did you go to the services tab and make sure the "Hide all Microsoft services" was unchecked before you selected disable all?

I tried anything I could think off including diagnostic startup ,disabling all services(including microsoft) but alot of services were missing than rendering me unable to test anything. Those that were tested yielded same results.

Unfortunately I am not sure what error occured when the update blue screened.

I will try to reinstall drivers , thanks.

To me, it sounds like your operating system is damaged.

Would you be willing to give reinstalling Windows another go and take pictures of your screen at different stages? Posting the pictures in this thread would help out.

If you also say the specifications of your computer, I can help you find the most up-to-date drivers. If you don't know then don't worry, we'll figure it out a different way.

Im not sure what specs you need but my computer is a prebuilt hp pheonix (h9-1995)with

windows 7 home premium SP1

i7-3770

16GB of RAM

AMD Radeon 7770

That was all the specs I could get before it stops responding cause at this point I cant even backup my computer . I will try to re-install windows and will update the post.

One more thing theres a windows update for [ Intel Coporation - Storage Controller - Intel® 7 Series/C216 Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller ] which I have been unable to install for quite a while . I have tried to install drivers from the intel website but it says that its already up to date.

I'm glad that you're willing to give reinstalling another go. Start off with installing Windows again without any drivers and try opening some programs. If the programs work fine, then we can start installing the correct drivers.

Don't forget to take some pictures of your screen while choosing the Windows installation options so we can see if it looks normal. You should be selecting 'Custom Installation/Don't keep any files', or words to those effect.

I once saw a post... "Install Linux from a USB Drive and boot off that" -Unknown "Oh my god it's working! :o" Exaggerated on that last bit, but seriously.

I'm interested to see it if would just work on a different OS altogether. It would at least confirm whether it's a Hardware or Software problem.

Siggy butt brain

Did you format the drive before install ? Do you use a licensed copy ?

licensed copy , will try installing on a new hard disk . I ran into a wierd issue where whenever I open up computer properties it always does not respond and restarts. ( Thats the screen where the computer specs are given).
