I have a wifi card installed in my PC (PCIE card) and it automatically wants to use wifi on startup. I only want to use wifi for LAN parties and I like to use local connection (wired) when I'm at home.

Does anyone know how to set local connection as the default connection on startup? Thanks in advance for any help I can get.

Go to device manager and right-click and disable device.

Right-click enable when you want to use it.

Thank you, seems simple enough. However I kind of would like it so that it can be a backup connection in case my cable falls out for whatever reason. Is setting it as a backup connection possible?

Press Win + R, type ncpa.cpl. Press alt to display the menu bar and select "Advanced" in it. Now select Ethernet and press the up arrow button on the left side of the window. Now it will choose a wired connection over a wireless one.
