Creative Soundblaster Roar

can anyone comment on this bluetooth speaker?

from the reviews i have seen online it's a pretty beastly speaker.

I'm not looking for anything extremely elaborate like a 5.1 setup and simply am looking for a nice bluetooth speaker that i can pair with my phone etc.

Is this worth the price or is something like the bose soundlink better? granted the bose is a lot more expensive.

If the price is justified i can go up to $200++

Any reason you need to go wireless? For the price you can get much better sound quality going wired.

Going wireless is simply for the convenience that's all. I don't need something super audiophile grade anyway.

There are 2 ways to get what you want.

1. Get a dedicated bluetooth speaker or speakers set. Quite costly compared to its regular wired counterpart.

2. Get a regular wired speaker or speakers set, then get something like: http://www.amazon.com/NEWSTYLE-Wireless-Bluetooth-Adapter-Receiver/dp/B00KAC2NQ2/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1410315671&sr=8-15&keywords=bluetooth+audio+dongle (if the cheap price is a bit turn-off, just do the search to get other models)

No.1 is a plus on mobility and simplicity, while no.2 is a plus on quality (with the same price, you could get better speakers)

how reliable would the dongle be?

it's an interesting idea, i just don't want to have to get a headache over pairing issues and what not.

i'll take a look at it

Well, every bluetooth device must be paired at least once. After that, it's automatic (depends on the settings of the source device), turn on, and it will pair by itself in a few seconds.

i'm thinking more along the lines of connection drops and delay etc.

Not recommending this, but I have a HiVi GT1000 speaker system, and it has BT reception capability. It's pretty good and I've streamed music from my Note 3 to it and it sounds pretty good. I'm commenting merely to say that BT is pretty good......not sure about those add on dongles and such. I have heard good things about the Roar, and have been curious about it as well. Will prolly go to the tech mall later to see if I can have an audition....

so far, all i have seen are pretty good reviews of the roar, it sounds amazing for the price.
