Okay, so I currently have a 150GB SSD for main windows files, and a 1TB HDDfor games and programs.
I want to upgrade my HDD to a 1 TB SSD. Would I be able to install the SSD into my computer, transfer all the files over, and then uninstall the HDD and then change my SSD  so it matches my HDD's name and letter?

Yep, exactly that should work

(You might find there are more worthwhile upgrades than an SSD for mass storage, for example: a new GPU)

My PC:

4670k      GTX 760 ACX      CoolerMaster Hyper 412s      Fractal Design Node 804      G1 Sniper M5      Corsair RM 650      WD Red 1TB     Samsung 840 Evo 120GB

I want a 1TB SSD for the loading times.

And I was told that crossfire isn't worth it, since it's buggy and such.

Since you got "Told" you should still find out for yourself..

Youtube is easy enough, find out for yourself instead of relying on what your told.

If your gunna do a search, also look for recent examples on recent drivers , not older crossfire systems.

Meaning 270 crossfire, 280 crossfire 280x and 290/x crossfire.

7950 and 7970 crossfire would be good to, anything older and you run the risk of seeing scores from older drivers.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

i would add a 250GB or 500GB SSD, if you just have your  games on these, then take the crucial mx100, if you are rich then take an intel 730 or Samsung 850 pro

Hey there,

As @WhatTheQuack said, this should work just fine.

Like you mentioned, SSD improve game load times a lot, but nothing more. There are exceptions where a game needs to load a huge texture file or load a new campaign, but you won't see any FPS boosts or graphic improvements. If you are using other programs that work with heavy files, then you might see a bit of an improvement (quite a lot actually). Also 1TB of SSD memory is very pricey. I would advice you to check some RAID solutions for your loading times and keep the rest of your savings for a GPU/RAM/SPU/Other game significant parts or just save it for the future.

If you post what system you are using currently, we might be able to suggest some improvements which might be better than the one you are going for.

Hope this helps,

Captain_WD.

It's a laptop, I have space for one drive only. I would say it's fast enough for what I need it for and the 1TB part is large enough for whatever I need to store on it. As for speed, I've been using RAM disk for whenever I need to work on heavy stuff and need the speed boost :)
I guess it's up to one's choice and need to pick the best solution :) So far I have no complaints from what I use.

I am happy for you :)
I also have a mSATA port but I will be changing my laptop soon and I'll be using a NAS for most data.

lol I only got like 100GB used on my HDD (I keep my games on the SSDs), so I still dont get it why a 0815 consumer needs drives that have more than 1TB

DSLR Photography, music and movie collections, games, etc. Hobbies tend to take up a lot of space. Currently I have around 3TB of pictures and almost 1TB for music and movies each :)
