R9 290 Issue

Go to solution Solved by Windows98SE,

The RAM on the card is probably bad. It would result in the problems you described.

Like everyone else already said, RMA the card.

Recently I purchased an R9 290 Sapphire Tri-x 4GB. The card was performing well originally. As time passed I played battlefield 4 and it crashed occasionally. A few times it crashed on battlefield and I even got blue screen. Also, a few days ago when I started up games like diablo 3 or battlefield, etc I noticed some horizontal lines for a few seconds and then they left. I also noticed these lines when I left the games. Yesterday, all of a sudden the computer crashed on battlefield and got blue screen. I restarted but then the screen was flickering unstoppably. I searched the issue and was told to uninstall the 14.4 driver and install an early one (13.12 whql driver). Today everything was alright until I noticed a few horizontal lines here and there around my screen. Btw, the horizontal lines have colours. What should I do? Btw, I don't know how to flash the gpu or anything too complicated.

My system Specs:

Processor= i5 4670k 3.4ghz

Cooler= Corsair H100i

Mobo= Gigabyte Z87m-ud3h

RAM= G Skill Ripjaws 2x8 16gb 1600mghz

PSU= Corsair GS 700W

HDD= Intel 520 Series SSD 180gb + WD 1tb caviar black

I can't really tell..exactly but from my experience I think you should check your temperatures. I had the same issue some months ago when I would open Diablo 3 as you said and after a lot of stuttering the PC would turn off by itself because of the temperatures. Might be wrong but it's worth the check.

I got a new card. Is there certainly no solution??

It's likely defective. An RMA with sapphire is your best option.
