As I've migrated to a PC platform for gaming, I'm trying to get adept with mouse and keys. I've noticed something quite annoying though. With sticks I'd walk around and smoothly rotate the camera to take in the scene, sometimes I'd rotate very slowly and it always seemed buttery smooth. With my mouse though, I can see the camera snap with each pixel my mouse moves to, making the rotating jaggy and unnatural. I use the corsair m65 usually just shy of 2000dpi. How can I achieve a smooth camera experience?

It can be hard to make a very slow and smooth mouse movement over a short amount of physical space, try lowering your mouse DPI and making broader sweeps with your hand if you want slow and smooth rotation.
Otherwise you  can always use a controller, I prefer mouse and keyboard but some games are just better with a controller because that's what they're made for.

Some games have mouse cursor/camera smoothing, but it won't exactly benefit you when you try to aim on things.

Ya, some googling showed me that devs are looking into it for their code. It seems it's just not quite possible for a mouse.. In a perfect world we could have the accuracy of a mouse with the smoothness of sticks.

Can I ask which game you are playing? The problem could be fixed by changing an in-game setting.

Or it could be caused by the mouse not using a high enough update frequency, I am not so sure of this however, check your mouse settings.

If it isn't working absolutely perfectly, according to all your assumptions, it is broken.

I've noticed it in Metro LL and BioShock. I'm not sure the update frequency would fix it as it's moving a pixel at a time which I can see the abrupt jump from one pixel to the next, granted only when moving very slowly.

If it is occurring in several games it could be a frame-rate issue as well. Or more specifically the frame-rate changing slightly. I can't be sure.

Something like mouse smoothing for the mouse would probably make the game look allot less jaggy. As far as I know most people don't like that feature however.

I am rather certain that it will come down to the DPI being too high. I am using 2500DPI on my mouse and BF4 sniping is affected by a similar thing. If I focus properly I can minimize the effect, but it still affects me when using a large zoom scope. I am far too used to a DPI of 2500, any slower feels just way too slow.

The only solutions that come to mind are 1. Lower the DPI and increase the in-game sensitivity. 2. Use mouse smoothing.

Ok, thanks for the tips.
