Edit: In hindsight I feel like I meant to say broken instead of breaking.

I have noticed recently that my mouse doesn't always work properly. By that I mean that the scroll wheel doesn't always work the way it should, well the scrolling does but clicking it to open new tabs or to move around the screen.

Always I noticed that sometimes when it does open things in a new tab it will open it 1-4 times.

Sounds like your mouse is on its death bed..

It is a Rat 3

Tried it on a different computer to see if it produces the same problem?

I haven't because I don't have access to another computer and it is hard to replicate.

You could try bringing your mouse to some retail store and plug your mouse in to see if it is broken. You could also create a live CD of Ubuntu on a USB and use your mouse in a ubuntu environment to see if it is a software issue that is causing it.

recently I had a logitech g500 die.  it was very similar to what you decribe above.  also things would happen like web pages speed scrolling to the bottom of the page on its own.  The problem went away after I tested with a spare mouse.  Tho I think I did try reinstalling the logitech software as well.

anyway Im pretty sure it broke from too many impacts on the hard floor and it had quite a few before it finally quit.  I try not to let my new mouse hit the floor.
