I need help finding ways to make my build a little cheaper but still have it be a killer system, my build is going to be for gaming/video editing,

here are the specs that I have picked out so far:

motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-X79-UP4

RAM: CORSAIR vengeance performance 32GB 1866

Graphics card: 2 sapphire TRI-X OC 290x 4gb (with ek water blocks)

Sound card: Creative sound blaster Z

Storage: 1 Corsair Force LX Series 256gb, 1 WD green 2TB

power supply: evga 1200w power supply

case: 900D

water cooling stuff:

If you're trying to make your build a little cheaper, then ditch the liquid cooling for a Noctua air cooler, and hold off on the sound card. Chances are that unless you're seriously overclocking the crap out of that thing and liquid cooling 4 graphics cards, you won't need the cooling setup you listed. And if you do decide to go with a custom liquid loop, don't go with the mayhem aurora. That stuff's for display only; it will settle out and clog your loop. As for the sound card, the onboard audio of your motherboard is pretty good, so give it a try first, and if you don't like it then add a sound card or DAC later.

Well, if you decide that you really want to go with a custom liquid cooling setup, it would be a good idea to look at the setups that people have posted here on the forums. You'll find that for a cpu and two gpu's you don't need the radiator's you have listed. Maybe you should look at a Swiftech H220-X. You could add your gpu waterblocks and maybe an extra 240mm rad to that.

On the base specs you already have good components, also price to performance wise.

On the WC stuff, same changes can be made. Like others have said, the Enthoo Primo is just as good and a bit cheaper.

Also you don't need that many rads for two 290X's and a 4930K. You'd still have great temps and a quiet system if you went with two thick 480mm rads. You could go with two 480 Alphacool UT60's and be golden (or a 480 + a 360 even). One in the top, one in the bottom.

Tubing: make sure you get Primochill Advanced LRT as that's the model without any plasticizers.

Coolant: Mayhems Aurora is a show liquid designed for short term use in build shows because it gunks up your loop really quickly and eventually loses it's effect. If you want colored coolant get Mayhems X1 or Pastel or EK colored coolant. Personally I'd recommend colored tubing with plain ol' distilled water and a biocide.

Bert & Ernie before squirting spermie.

Hello The Dingo Lingo,

the HDD you've chosen is good but isn't suitable for a gaming computer. The WD Green drives are for second storage for archiving and backuping. They have IntelliPower which would make them not fast enough for gaming. Still, you could look into the WD Black hard drive or the WD VelociRaptor.

The WD Black is for maximum computer performance, 7200 RPM, up to 4TB of capacity, designed for gaming and more demanding applications.

The WD VelociRaptor is with 10 000 RPM, up to 1TB capacity; a performance drive for video and photo editing, 3D rendering etc., and occasional gaming.

If you'd like to see some more specs, I've put some links below.

Also, @JohannLeidenfrost made some good points. If you really want to save some money, in my opinion you can go with less RAM and downgrade the CPU a bit, and still gain great performance out of the whole build. And I do agree,s ee if you like the sound from your MoBo, in the case you don't, get the sound card. The same way you could try it first with one GPU and afterwards if you insist on a second one, get it and then you can crossfire.

Here are the links to the drives:

I hope I've helped! :)

Best of luck!

If you think I helped, like!  :P

the reason I want to get a the radiators is I do plan on going and getting 2 more 290x and eventually getting a i7-4960x, also i would use the colored tubing with water but for some reason i don't like the look of just normal water in the reservoir, also thanks for the tip on the HDD
