Ok so new neighbors moved in next door a few weeks ago and ever since they moved in my wireless network has been really unstable, so i looked into it and their network is on the same channel as mine so i decided to change the channel of my router in case it was causing the issue, so i when go into my routers settings (it's a Netgear DGN2000) and changed the channel and applied the new settings and for some reason it reset itself to factory default settings. So after 2 hours i finally got the stupid thing working again but only on the same channel if i try and do any of the other channels it resets itself, the only channel that works is Auto which sets it to channel 6 everytime which is the same as my neighbors network.

Round 2, So i had one of these powerline adapters laying around so i tried that and it fixed the issue but of course it caused another issue, even though the connection was stable it was really slow almost 3 times slower than on my wireless connection even the ping was worse. So i connect my laptop into the same port on the router that the adapter was in and it works fine no problems.

So i was wondering if anyone knows any other way of connecting the stuff in my room to the internet without running a cable through the middle of the house or buying a new router because wireless is just to unreliable. I was thinking of getting a ethernet port installed in my room but i don't know if it will have the same problem as the adapter and also i have no idea how much it would cost. So does anyone have any ideas?

options:

1. get new firmware for your router so you can actually set your channel (dd-wrt) nevermind its an All in one

2. get a dual band router or if you router is dual band configure and use the 5ghz signal

3. run some patch cable from your router

4. talk to your neighbours about the wireless interference
