mechanical keyboard questions/help thing

Go to solution Solved by VMaxMuffin,

You should be fine with the Blackwidow, I have two (well I have an older Blackwidow and my brother has the new one, exact same one you're talking about) and have used both of them for OS installations.

USB keyboards should work without drivers, I don't know why it didn't in this case. I suspect it's because it wasn't a fresh OS install or something (at least it doesn't look like it was). Basically I wouldn't worry about it, try it and worst case scenario it doesn't work and you have to go out and buy a cheap PS/2 keyboard.

Also when it comes to PC Part Picker, sometimes parts are missing (particularly on the NZ and AU websites I find) so I would recommend using PCPP to make 'rough' builds and then go and order the exact parts you want from a different website (also ordering all from one website will save you money on shipping and stuff).

Finally just a note on your build - it looks pretty good except you have a locked processor with a Z-series board. You should either go with the i7 4790K (which is unlocked and overclockable) or save some money by going with an H97 motherboard instead.

not sure where to put this post, and cant really find a solution any where so yea.

NOTE: i have not started to build my PC yet, just doing some research before i start buying parts that i'm not sure about :)

anyway i am buying PC parts for my new PC (first time doing this) and i'm thinking about getting a razer black-widow 2014 stealth edition keyboard but i'm not sure if it will work with no drives on a new install of windows. What i'm trying to say is that when you install windows on to a new system, will the keyboard work? or do i need a old keyboard that doesn't need any drivers to set up windows? the reason why i am asking this is because in one of Linus's builds when he was setting up a new PC, and he had to get a different keyboard to set up windows/ go in to windows

not to sure if this is even the right post to put this in or if it even makes any sense

and its at around 45:30 - 46:00 where Linus has this problem

thanks

also the system i'm planing on building: http://nz.pcpartpicker.com/p/PNsRwP

*EDIT: i also plan on getting windows 8.1, vut there is no windows 8.1 option on the PC part picker (New Zealand)
