A few poor choices IMO. Ditch the SSD since you can get a tangible performance increase with the money you do not spend on that SSD. Also I wouldn't trust the Corsair Builder PSU's for higher wattages. Give me a moment to try and improve.

Go for 2x4 instead of 1x8 for the RAM.

I would disagree with the SSD comment.  I consider SSDs to be a must for a computer.  If your spending $1000 there is no reason not to have a SSD

So if you had to choose between R9 280X and ssd or R9 290 and no SSD you would go with R9 280X with SSD? Really silly decision IMO. An SSD is not a must, it's convenient but far from required.

Post bbcodemarkup.

I would suggest you go with intel i5 and get different case and better PSU.

What is your definite budget, what is your usage?

depends. he can ditch ssd and buy better stuff, or just buy ssd at first and hdd later.

yes I would make that choice

No questions in my mind it would be the right decision  The difference between an r9 280x and r9 290 is smaller than the difference you will notice going from an hdd to an ssd.

When it comes to loading screens the only real games where it makes a good difference are games like Battlefield 4. Otherwise the HDD is more than fat enough. As for boot times if you think 30 seconds is a long time then you need to adjust your standard. I will gladly take performance increase over loading time decrease, it's not half as significant as people think.

If you plan for a significant overclock, then go with the Corsair H100i.

P.S.: Just realised that you want a monitor in the $1000 budget.

people get addicted to SSD speed (linus :D ) so they think its needed

id say, spend as much as you can on performance and buy ssd later, easiest way to upgrade pc

I would most definitely get the R9 290 Tri-x instead (WELL worth the extra money, the tri-x cooler is fantastic). as for the PSU it's overkill if sticking to one R9 290 but not quite enough for 2 R9 290's (Should you decide to do this). If you plan to CF in the future then the the EVGA G2 850W instead. If you do not plan to get a 2nd R9 290 then The CS550M, EVGA NEX 650W or Corsair RM650 will be just fine. Also I'm a bigger fan of the 300r than the 200r, IMO worth the extra money.

Edit: You forgot the monitor.

Something is wrong with my internet today. Every page is taking a while to load so it took me some time to build this. Anyways, this build will be good enough for 1080p gaming. Did not include a aftermarket cooler because this is a non "k" i5 and a stock cooler will do just fine.
