Which pcie 3.0 X16 can I use for a single GPU?
I'm planning a build for a friend, but the most optimal way to use the the two PCIe X16 slots would be to have the graphics card in the slot farthest from the processor. In the past, this has caused intermittent driver crashes from Nvidia. My last attempt at using a pci express X16 slot other than the top one was back on pcie 2.0. Can I use the lower of the two PCIe 3.0 X16 slots without any problem? I'll link the motherboard's New Egg page below.

Normally the first physical 16x slot is wired electrically for pci-e gen 3.0 16x then it splits into 8x by 8x since the 4790K/4690K/Z97 chipset splits the bandwidth. If you go to the asrock website and look up the manual for this motherboard you will find how the pci-e lanes are split up,
