Does RAM overclocking really benefit anything?

Linus always talks about how ram overclocking is not good on the point of view of performance gained/power and heat that is used/produced, but does it benefit for big Adobe after effects preview and effects like freddiew and corridorDigital do?

You can see a performance increase, but generally speaking it's not going to be that large. Usually with After Effects you are running out of memory, so that's more of a larger bottleneck. You could if you can, but I wouldn't recommend going out and replacing it with a new kit either.
