So there are the things that you plug into that make it so you have power when the electicitics out right? Joking. Anyways I believe they are called ups. I was wondering how long a standard one if possible would last on a laptop.

If you've previously won the build off please pm me so we can get something worked out.

Well...I need it for long periods of time...my laptop is only good for about 3 hours on the lowest performance setting and the dullest backlight. Anyways its for when we loose power cause its usually out for like 5-6 hours in our city. Also for my modem and router as well.

What you are looking for depends on the wattage you're drawing. A bigger battery holds more charge and will last longer. It also depends on what you draw. A laptop already has a ups built into it, that's how it becomes a laptop. The higher spec the machine is the bigger the draw obviously.

Before buying a ups find out how easy it is to get replacement batteries. They only last 4-5 yrs at best. :( APC is popular but expensive. Things like Cyberpower are cheap but the batteries have a tendency to give out way sooner. In my city I found someone who sells refurbed units which could be ideal. Usually these guys grab whole networks and just replace the batteries with new ones and resell. I found that Tripplite is decent.

Sir William of Orange: Corsair 230T - Rebel Orange, 4690K, GA-97X SOC, 16gb Dom Plats 1866C9,  2 MX100 256gb, Seagate 2tb Desktop, EVGA Supernova 750-G2, Be Quiet! Dark Rock 3, DK 9008 keyboard, Pioneer BR drive. Yeah, on board graphics - deal with it!
