Hi guys,

Just new on the forum (which is awesome btw).

The question I have is, how do you know if a software uses all the available memory and/or CPU you got?
(its hardware, software related so I putted in general. If this is the wrong section, my apologies)

example: I have a program to simulate electronic designs (Agilent’s Advanced Design System) and when I simulate something,
it takes a certain amount of time to do so (depends on the gravity of the simulation.
I wonder how can I know if it uses all the available memory and CPU?

I have 8Gb of RAM and an i7-860 CPU. When simulating (and running Windows, firefox, etc) RAM usage is about 36% in total, and CPU 40% in total (most of it used by the program).

Is there a way to let the program use more CPU and/or RAM so the simulation gets done quicker?

Thanks in advance!

Jaip

You can set priority on each software from somewhere in windows system options. Other than that, software itself needs to be 64bit to fully utilize CPU/RAM (correct me if I'm wrong about this).
