Hey all,

My iPhone's battery is prettry much worn down now.

I'm looking for a replacement.

Obviously, Apple does not sell OEM part.

The most popular option seems to be to get parts from iFixIt.

Their batteries are most likely from China as with other third party parts.

I could also just buy from Chinese vendors from eBay.

Since both come from China, its probably gonna be a hit and miss.

I'm thinking about getting a bunch from different eBay sellers and test each one and use the one with the lowest internal resistance?

So, do I get a bunch from eBay or from iFixIt for almost 10x the price?

Sell the iPhone 4 and upgrade

1. iPhone 4, especially with iOS 7, is horribly slow

2. As if iPhone fires weren't common enough, there's probably a reason the eBay ones cost 10x less

3. The cost of buying a legit battery plus taking the time to replace it, is it really worth doing to an almost 4 year old model iPhone?

I dont think there is such a thing as an original battery for iDevices.

I dont have the money to upgrade now and yes its slow, but I can live with it.

Turns out that even these "quality" batteries from iFixit and the like are either cheapies made in China or yhey could just be recycled from other phones.

I think I'll just buy a bunch and test the internal resistance and use the best one. Yes I know how to do this and its not just an ohmmeter. I've taken apart a few iphones before and replacing it shouldnt be a challenge.
