Ideally you'd want a strong CPU, perhaps an i7-4790K? I'd probably recommend an Nvidia graphics card, from my personal experience they have less issues with MC than AMD ones. Since you plan on playing with shaders you should probably get at least a 770. You should also get an SSD, I really like the Samsung 840 EVO but you should do some of your own research and find one which you like. Oh, and 4GB of RAM is probably good enough, but I would recommend getting 8 for some more headroom.

You'll probably end up wanting an R9 290 and an i5k.

I'm not too sure how well MC goes with AMD cards, my framerates are easily less than half of what some of my friends who have 780s or similar are getting. One of my friends has a 290X and he's getting about the same as me.

Minecraft is not very GPU intensive.

Quite a few of my friends claim to be getting over 500 FPS, is that even possible?

Here's the list I recommend - the CPU is a well-rounded one that's good at single-core performance, which is good for Minecraft

Typical SSD for games (Minecraft uses a lot of random read/writes for world files) and a 2TB drive for video storage.

290X is very powerful and cost-effective

CPU cooler I skimped on, but you should be able to do some OCing with that

PSU is a good, branded, efficient, fully modular one that should allow you some wiggle room for more drives in the future

Windows I added in just for budgeting.

Case is value-oriented but still from a reputable brand, feel free to do whatever you want with it

RAM I skimped on, but left you room for another 8GB DIMM. 8GB should be enough for gaming.

Critiques with build:

8GB RAM is plenty for minecraft, but might not be for video editing - if you're the type to add a lot of effects and stuff, you might want to think of getting more RAM

AMD graphics card aren't great for video editing, so you might want to look at getting an nvidia GPU (Maybe a 770) for that

PSU doesn't leave room for crossfire or SLI

Cooler isn't good for extreme overclocks

Ways to save:

If you aren't going to OC, you can get a H97 motherboard and i5-4690 (non-k skew), and even forgo the Hyper 212 EVO cooler if you really want.

If you don't need top-tier (500fps) performance, you can get a 290 or 280x, even 280 that should run Minecraft just fine, even with shaders.

If you're upgrading from a Windows 7 OS or are happy to use Linux, the OS is optional.

Ways to upgrade:

16GB of RAM

Better Cooler (NH-D14 for 40 Pounds more)

Larger PSU

More tips:

If you look at the R9 280, which gives you 559-957 fps in vanilla. The 290X should give you a lot more than that, so you should be fine even with extreme builds, view distances, etc

500fps is completely possible, especially with the optimisations that Mojang have done recently.

From the little info you have given, you might want to consider something along these lines...

Putting this together i kept in mind your requirements as well as attributes like small and quite.  Total cost is around 830£ so plenty of room to spare to go for a better CPU (i7-4790k) or watercooling or some more hard drives or a better graphics card... up to you as you know what is more important.

- Cooler Master N200 Window

- Corsair RM750 80PLUS Gold

- ASRock Z97M PRO4

- Intel Core i5-4670K (3.4 GHz)

- Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo

- Samsung SSD 840 EVO 250 Go

- WD Blue Desktop 1 To SATA 6Gb/s 64 Mo

- Crucial Ballistix Sport VLP 16 Go (2 x 8 Go) DDR3 1600 MHz CL9

- Samsung SH-224DB/BEBE

- MSI GeForce GTX 760 Twin Frozr GAMING 2GB

@Ac2000

Do you want to OC?
Do you have a windows key? What OS are you going to use?

Where do you stay? (I'm assuming the UK)

What exactly are you going to use it for? Only Minecraft? A lot of editing or only uploading?

If you look at the section regarding build advice you should find a format for asking for build advice :) It's difficult to help you without answering the following questions...

Please get an i7 4790k. Minecraft with the latest patch benefits from every core for world rendering and each engine offloads to a core.  esp since you plan to run shaders)

Plus I assume you'll be editing so yeah.
