Middle Click Malfunction

I am using a Zowie EC1 mouse right now and earlier today my middle mouse button (pressing down on the scroll wheel) stopped working. I removed the mouse feet and was in the process of disassembling the mouse to see if anything was wrong internally when I tried the button and it started working again. However I'd like to make a thread asking if anyone has experienced scroll wheel difficulties and how they fixed them in case I run into trouble further down the line.
