7970 1440p performance

I REALLY want a 1440p monitor but know that my 660ti wont be able to handle it. Should wait a month or two to see if the 770 is better or bite the bullet now and get a 7970. My budget is $450

I'd wait and see what the 770 is like. Also remember that the radeon 9000 series is coming as well.

the 770 is just an slight update of the 680. its not the same 110 core thats used in the titan. the performance will be about 40% down on what you get with a 1080p screen for the same max settings.

1440 isnt really a gaming screen size just yet. maybe 3-5 years when the 780 is thought of as a low-mid range card.

so if your thinking gaming with a single card you will be wasting your money.

Check this out. It is a comparison between GTX Titans and 7970's but there are a number of games and benches included that have FPS numbers for a single 7970 at 1440p. Enjoy!
