Hello All,

I'm planning on a build which I'm going to get at the end of the year and I would like any constructive feedback~. My budget is $1300AUD (Quite less as Australian PC parts are EXPENSIVE).

Use: Programming, Web Surfing, Light Gaming (League of Legends), etc.

Now I know that this build is going to be a COMPLETE overkill for my purposes but yeah... I'm planning that this would last me for at least a while..

CPU

  • i5-4690K
  • Justification - Well .. I can't really for my intended purposes.

CPU Cooler

  • CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO
  • Justification - Not sure if I want to OC my CPU immediately when I get it, but in the near future (2 - 3 years time) I may decide to OC to just give me that slight boost.. Also lower temperatures and better than the stock fan xD

Mobo

  • Asus Z97-PRO-WIFI
  • Justification - I don't think I can justify this well either but the OC and other features are quite nice. I also need the wireless connectivity as there is no way I can use Ethernet..

RAM

  • Kingston DDR3 2133MHz (2x8GB) Kit
  • Justification - Well I tend to enjoy multitasking and the price difference between 1600mhz and 2133Mhz isn't alot anyways..

HDD

  • Segate Barracuda 3TB
  • HDD are quite cheap nowadays and 3TB would allow me to store my videos.

SSD

  • Samsung EVO 850 256GB
  • I would like to have some room to install most of my programs and OS on the drive. The 10 Years Warranty is also nice.. but I think this may also be overkill for my use..

Case

  • Undecided - Suggestions Please :D (There isn't much options as I would like from my store that I would buy my parts from - Centrecom)

PSU

  • Corsair CX500m
  • Justification: Modular & 500W should be plentiful for my system. I was going to get a Gold PSU but decided that I wouldn't save from electricity bills; it would cost me at least an extra $30 to upgrade to Gold.

Optical Drive

  • Asus OEM
  • Justification - Quite cheap and I feel uncomfortable not having one.

Monitor

  • Asus 24" LED Monitor 1MS Delay
  • I'm not 100% sure about this one.
  • Should I get a 27" ?
  • Should I get a monitor with 1ms delay.. I mean I would barely be gaming on that thing.

GPU

  • Intel HD Graphics 4600.....
  • Justification - Well it's free.. and I won't be doing any gaming, video editing, etc.

Well Thanks in Advance :D

A dedicated GPU is always nice, but if you're 100% sure you're not gonna game/edit, sure. It's not great but it'll work, not sure how it'll run LoL, never played that game.

Well actually in around two years time I do intend to purchase a GPU and get into more intensive gaming so I'm hoping that it would last me for maybe two to three years afterwards. Which is also why I'm considering a 'K' processor so that it can be OC if need be.

I wouldn't spend that on a PC if you are doing integrated graphics a lot of that is not necessary for just web browsing.

The Corsair CX is a budget psu. It will be fine for your spec, but I would suggest something better if you intend on adding a graphics card in the future.

If you don't mind a non modular psu then this antec is much better. It will give you enough power for any single gpu that you add down the line.

You don't wanna give so much trouble to the i5 using the integrated graphics card. Get a GeForce GTX 750Ti or similar. It's cheap and a few times better than HD 4000.

Hell, even go back a little bit to the 6xx or 5xx series (nVidia), just do not use HD 4000.

Or maybe you can just try to game without a graphics card and, once you make up your mind, get something cheap.

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790k | CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 | Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth Z97 MARK 1 | Memory: Kingston HyperX FURY 16GB 1866MHz | GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 770 4GB Windforce

Storage: Samsung 840 EVO | PSU: CM Silent Pro 720W | Case: Phanteks Enthoo Luxe | Headset: Corsair Vengeance 2100 | Keyboard: Logitech G710+ | Mouse: Razer DeathAdder Chroma

Well what I was thinking is that if I'm barely going to use a GPU if I purchase one, then there is no point if HD graphics is enough for my use. If I do decide to purchase a GPU in the future (talking bout in 2 - 3 years), I would access to newer generation GPUs

Hmmmm I think I would prefer a modular powersupply though.. do you have any suggestions for a decent PSU that is modular?

The Antec has a 520W and 620W modular version. The 520W would be fine for most single gpu's.
