Ok what I have is one of my older gaming pc turned into a server.

The Spec are i5 750 (stock speeds), Asus P7P55D EVO, 8G of ram, 700 watt PSU, with a 8800GTX with Windows 7 Pro. Right now it has 6 1TB WD blacks, 1 500GB Green, and 1 240G Intel SSD for the OS.

Now the problem is I'm running out of room on the server for all the files. Its not running any kind of raid which I know I should.  The main thing the server is used for is to stream videos to every pc in the house (4 total). It is also use to back up pic and the normal stuff.

I'm in the process of replaceing all the drives but the SSD with WD 3TB RED. What I would like to know is what is the easiest way to set them up in a raid 1. I know the best thing to do is to get a nice raid card but I can't bring myself to spend the money for one-- well a nice one.

Is there good free program or cheat program to pool them all together and raid them, or would it just be better to us onboard raid?

FlexRAID is a pretty good program. If you use Windows 8, you can use Storage Spaces which can give you a single volume configured with mirrors/parity as redundancy.

Here's Linus demonstrating the capabilities of Storage Spaces:

I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason and intellect has intended us to forgo their use, and by some other means to give us knowledge which we can attain by them. - Galileo Galilei

Yea I have a lot of HD movies and TV show. I go though the movies about once a year--- takes way WAY to long......

Looks like from what I have been reading Windows 8 storage space looks to be what I need. Still don't know if I want Windows 8 on the server.
